Bodywork for Pleasure Horses
Your horse does not have to compete to benefit from this form of bodywork. This approach can help any horse, whether young or old, healthy or with recent or old injuries. Frequently, I can uncover a problem when the owner suspects something might be wrong, but just isn’t sure what. Each horse takes what it needs and every horse will be helped to function to the very best of its potential, with the majority going on to display a more relaxed approach to life and work.
The healthy horse benefits from improved maintenance, remaining supple and mobile, and therefore less prone to injury. The immune system strengthens as toxins are shifted and the cardiovascular system is freed from soft tissue tension. Younger horses benefit from being correctly aligned from the start (I have worked on day old foals with great results!).
In older horses, the effects of arthritis are minimised and weakening systems, such as the digestion and immune system, are supported. The approach is so gentle that the older horse’s body can accept the work without pain or discomfort.
Injured and sick horses experience realignment through release of soft tissue tension, with reduction in swelling and stiffness. The body is set up for recovery, as the compensation issues that frequently spring up after injury are dramatically reduced or eliminated altogether. On a subtle level, horses frequently move on from the lingering emotional trauma associated with accident and injury. This includes the distress caused by a period of poor saddle fit.
